Excavations at Maritime Academy, Frindsbury – A new Palaeolithic site
This talk will be about excavations by UCL/Archaeology South-East at Maritime Academy, Frindsbury. Deposits present on the site consisted of Pleistocene fluvial gravels and a sequence of fine-grained deposits trapped within a large solution feature in the chalk. Hundreds of Palaeolithic artefacts were recovered from deposits on the site, including in situ flint scatters and several handaxes, one of which was extremely large.
