High Visibility jackets and hard hats provided – we regret this one is only open to those members reasonably steady on their feet. Archaeologist Graham Keevill will be our guide to the excavations. Some early 12th century footings to see and - something which was not anticipated – a large section of Norman wall! The wall has been discovered situated beneath the Kent Steps – its actual location being where the new lift was intended to go. Evidently it is a substantial piece and is an exciting find for the archaeologist. There may also be time, following our visit, to learn more about the Cathedral Library. Cost to Friends: only £3.00.
